The Great Barrier Reef has always fascinated me. How tiny living organisms can form entire cities, massive living structures that provide shelter and home for so many other species than themselves. How they've created an ecosystem that depends on all components, that works because of them. It has always been a dream of mine to see this World Wonder. It wasn't pretty when I did. I was expecting colours, schools of fish, liveliness. But what I saw was the opposite. The corals are bleaching as temperatures are rising and the ocean is acidifying. The Reef is adapting but just not fast enough. It's constantly being destroyed and you can see the consequences of our actions with the naked eye. The GBR of today isn't the same as it was 20 years ago. And it might not be there for our children to see. That's why we need change - NOW!
